Monitorização ecológica (fitobentos, macroinvertebrados bentónicos e peixes) e da qualidade da água no pequeno Aproveitamento Hidroelétrico de Vales

The ecological quality was determined based on methodologies defined by the protocols of Water Framework Directive. Several samples were obtained for the abiotic component, i.e. physicochemical water quality and the evaluation of riparian and aquatic habitat condition and biotic component, based on the sampling of diatoms, macroinvertebrates and fish communities. From spring to winter of 2015, four sampling sites, located in upstream and downstream reaches of SHP, were selected and assessed the ecological quality based on selected metrics (e.g. abundance, composition and diversity of species, and different indexes: IBMWP, IPtIN and F-IBIP).
