BEEHEAL project to tackle Nosema ceranae in the Mediterranean

The BEEHEAL (Promoting bee health for sustainable agriculture) project has been approved for funding under the Arimnet2 ERA NET Action. The project aims "to determine the phenology and interaction of the microsporidia Nosema ceranae and viruses including acute bee paralysis virus (ABPV), Israeli acute paralysis virus (IAPV), Black queen cell virus (BQCV) Chronic bee paralysis virus (CBPV) and Deformed wing virus (DWV), in four Mediterranean countries: Spain, France, Portugal and Israel.  BEEHEAL was one of the 11 projects selected in the ARIMNet2 2016 call.  CIMO, the portuguese partner in the consortium, will work with Centro de Investigación Apícola y Agroambiental de Marchamalo, in Spain, the Agricultural Research Organization,The Volcani Center, in Israel, and the Centre de recherche Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Unité:Abeilles et Environnement (INRA Bees and Environment research unit), in France.

ARIMNet2 (Coordination of Agricultural Research in the Mediterranean) is an ERA-NET Action financed by the EU under the Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration, aimed at enhancing the coordination of agricultural research in the Mediterranean area and strengthening the cooperation among stakeholders from the food and agriculture sector (e.g. researchers, farmers and their organisations, agricultural extension services, agribusinesses, policy-makers, funders, etc.).
