Who We Are

CIMO - Centro de Investigação de Montanha is a multidisciplinary research unit focused on Mediterranean mountain ecosystems. Based at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança with a pole at Viana do Castelo, we're part of Portugal's national research network coordinated by FCT.

Our Approach

We follow an interdisciplinary strategy spanning from Nature (biodiversity, natural resources, agriculture, forest management) to Products (food and bio-based materials), promoting sustainable innovation and value creation.

To promote world-class research in Mediterranean mountain areas through scientific observation, experimental development, and stakeholder collaboration, fostering sustainable development and conservation of mountain ecosystems.
